Letter |
"Many years ago, young Canadians who should have been finishing school, working in fields, playing hockey and football, leaning the skills needed for adulthood, and falling in love instead went overseas and fought a war. Men and women put their lives on hold and concentrated on the tasks needed to liberate continents from slavery and terror. Many came home from the war and continued their lives. Far too many others never had that chance.
When called upon, these Canadians left their homes in Big River and Oxbow, Indian Head and Val Marie, Duck Lake, Swift Current and Moose Jaw. From Regina and Saskatoon, White Fox and Acherwill they went to serve their nation and bring freedom to others. They went out from all over Saskatchewan to help save the world. They succeeded.
May God bless each one of them, and may we never forget what they did."
Tom Hanks, 2003
